A Circle of Women are Gathering
Rites
of
Passage
with Donna Callaghan,
BA, CHT
Saturday, April 17th
Each of us inherently gathers beliefs, behaviors and expectations from our parents. Some take us to great heights while others limit our ability to thrive. Our relationship with our Mother, whether she was present in our life or not, is where we develop much of our view of self and our skills to interact with the world.
As women, it is important to reflect upon how Indigenous cultures celebrate a woman’s rite of passage throughout her life: birth, maiden, mother, warrior and crone. These ceremonies help her walk into all of who she is, supported by a community of women. This is a natural progression of endings and new beginnings, carrying forward knowledge, releasing what no longer serves and embracing new levels of consciousness. As a society, we have moved away from celebrating rites of passage, which inhibits our growth. This Rites of Passage workshop and ceremony has been created to help us individuate from our Mothers with love and respect. We will find our courage to become ourselves, and walk our true path supported within a circle of women. This workshop asks you to reach deep within to find what You believe, feel and experience, versus your mother’s view, belief and/or version of You or the world. We will be creating opportunities to transform what is not yours, then birth You and Your dreams into Your world utilizing visualizations, sharing, writing, painting and a fire ceremony.
Together we can create new opportunities for ourselves, This experience is a powerful tool of transformation. Like all transformation, the experience will continue working with you after you leave. You will go home with tools to guide and support you in your journey of becoming You. This workshop will be held, weather permitting, at a beautiful country setting in Richton Park, IL or at the office of Donna Callaghan in Chicago Heights, IL.
